At chemo yesterday at PMH the volunteer brought out some hats. I saw the one I picked from a distance and loved it. It is a navy blue knitted toque. I had been shopping for hats last week as I just lost my hair and could not find one. This one is beautiful and the best thing is that when I read who made it, it was made by Gwen which is my mothers name!! Thank you so much.

This is a wonderful idea. I would like to start a branch here in Round Rock. I just recently went through the cancer shock just after a friend of mine. She had to undergo chemo but I did not. I would have loved to be able to make her a hat. There are so many people who are going through chemo at my oncologists office that I would like to give them a hat. Here in Texas it is so hot all the time maybe you could help me revise a patter enough to use a lighter weight yarn. I would appreciate any info you could give me. Let me know if there is anything I need to do to get started. I don't know if you require anything to use your group name. Thanks Betty

Thank you so much for the hat, it's perfect! There was a basket of them at Credit Valley hospital on Thursday -they didn't last long and I was glad I got one! It's a muli-blue pattern made by Louise and it looks and feels great! I finished chemo at the end of July and my hair is just starting to grow back so I wish I'd found them sooner, but the timing is good because it's getting cooler and my head is always freezing!

Now I am a patient myself starting chemo on May 7th and was looking for some other patterns to crochet. I will continue to make these hats for the patients and myself and for the men i make lap robes and they seem to enjoy them as well. Thank you for offering so many beautiful hat patterns. When my mother lost her hair during chemo treatments I initially designed my own very plain, basic hats for her. The patterns you offer are much more stylish. I plan to donate the ones I make to our local chemo treatment center for anyone in need. Thanks again. Also, for anyone interested in a hat with a more "hair-like" look, go to www.lionbrand.com and search chemo cap. There is a real nice pattern using fancy fur yarn that my mother just loved. It's available in either knit or crochet patterns. My prayers are with any of you going through cancer treatment, both the patient and caregivers as well.

I just wanted to thank you on behalf of my 82 yr old Mom. She was diagnosed with ovarian cancer 1 week before Christmas. She was most upset when she found out she was going to lose her hair from the chemo treatments. Through the Cdn Cancer Society I spoke with a very kind lady, Ginette, who has free, gently used wigs that are given to chemo patients. Ginette also has a basket of your wonderful crocheted and knitted hats. Mom was thrilled - they are warm and do not bother her sensitive scalp. She wears them inside to keep her head warm and puts them on over her wig when she wants to go out. Thanks to all of you who graciously and generously donate your time and talent to help those in their time of need. God bless.
